Da Introdução

A exposição Escultura Tshokwe reúne cerca de meia centena de peças, de valor inestimável, pertencentes a diferentes instituições portuguesas, procurando homenagear a Prof. Doutora Marie-Louise Bastin, a quem se deve o aprofundamento do seu estudo e o modo como conseguiu salientar e fazer compreender a singularidade da expressão artística daquele povo.

The exhibition Tshokwe Sculpture presents about fifty invaluable objects, which belong to different Portuguese institutions. In its essence, it seeks to honour Professor Marie-Louise Bastin, to whom we owe the deepening of our knowledge regarding this sculpture and, above all, the way in which she was able to distinguish and make us understand the singularity of this people's artistic expression.
