The Tifariti University Research Centre (CIUT) is based at the University of Tifariti and aims to promote theoretical and applied research projects in all scientific fields.
Its main objectives are:
- to coordinate all research projects on the natural and social heritage of Western Sahara;
- to articulate the resources available at the University of Tifariti for scientific research with the development priorities of the Saharawi authorities;
- to centralise and disseminate scientific information developed by international projects on Western Sahara.


CIUT works closely with its international partners, universities and research centres.
CIUT's activity began in October 2021, following the Conference on the Basis of Scientific Cooperation in Western Sahara, organised by the University of Tifariti.
